On the morning of February 7, 2023, Comrade Zhang Bo, Secretary of the Party Group and director of Shanxi Provincial Health Commission, accompanied by Feng Lizhong, director of Shanxi Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Deputy Director Guo Guige and Dr. Ren Binzhi, inspected the construction site of the new project of Shanxi Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, which was undertaken by Wuhan Kebei Technology Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as Kebei Technology).

During the inspection, Secretary Zhang Bo carefully inquired and understood the construction progress, construction quality, construction difficulties and safety work, and gave high appreciation and recognition to Kebe Technology for continuously overcoming many difficulties such as tight construction period and epidemic prevention and control in 2022, delivering the decoration part of P3 laboratory on schedule, and achieving both progress and quality.

Why build a P3 High level Biosafety laboratory

Secretary Zhang Bo said that it is necessary to fully understand the significance of building P3 laboratory, and the epidemic prevention and control has exposed that China still has many shortcomings in the prevention and control of major epidemics and problems in the system and mechanism, so strengthening the construction of public medical institutions has become an urgent task.  Therefore, under the new situation, the position of biosafety laboratory is particularly important.

Significance of building P3 high level biosafety laboratory in Shanxi Province CDC

The P3 laboratory built by Cobe Technology as the P3 laboratory in Shanxi Province will focus on the research of highly pathogenic pathogens, and provide strong support for the tracing of pathogenic microorganisms in the province, virulence identification, drug screening, vaccine research and development, etc., which can also greatly improve the prevention and control ability of Shanxi Province to deal with severe infectious diseases.

Secretary Zhang Bo stressed that it is necessary to efficiently carry forward the positive, rapid and timely construction of P3 laboratory construction, and go all out to complete the construction progress of the project. The project promotion meeting will be held regularly to ensure the week, month and season on a daily basis, adhere to the goal orientation, and strive to complete the commissioning of P3 laboratory and formally put into use as soon as possible, providing an effective laboratory environment for actively carrying out dynamic monitoring of the sequelae of the novel coronavirus.
